Barcelona could be the perfect travel destination. At least according to my guidelines: beach, architecture and nightlife.
BEACH: Barcelona has seven beaches totaling 2.8 miles of coastline. Among the most popular of beaches is Barceloneta. Barceloneta, with its soft, sandy beach, is a perfect place to enjoy the Mediterranean weather and people watch. A boardwalk packed with restaurants and nightclubs also surrounds the beach. The Olympic port is also close to Barceloneta’s beach. All in all, Barceloneta offers a plenty of options to keep you busy all day and is a must when you visit Barcelona.
ARCHITECTURE: Barcelona is home to some great architecture. The most notably architecture sites in Barcelona are those of Antoni Gaudi, the master of modernism. My favorite Gaudi sites are Parc Guell and Casa Mila. Parc Guell is a mosaic tiled wonder. The entrance way features a tiled lizard fountain that leads up to columned court. The court features mosaics depicting the seasons. On top of the court is a terrace surrounded by swirling benches, which are perfect to people watch and enjoy a sunset from. Casa Mila, also known as La Pedrera, is an apartment complex designed by Gaudi in the early 1900s. The inner courtyard walls are covered in a watercolor style painting, but the best part is the roof. The roof of Casa Mila is covered in weird, alien-like sculptures and offers panoramic views of the city.
NIGHTLIFE: The people of Barcelona know how to party. After visiting this Spanish city, you’ll know why the Spanish take a siesta. If you really want to party like a true Spaniard, head down to the port when the nightclubs down start hopping until 1 a.m. and close sometime before dawn. If you’re looking for more of a chill evening, Barcelona offers tons of chic bars to lounge after the night in. One of the coolest bars in Barcelona is located off La Rambla, the main tourist street in the city. El Bosque de las Hadas, The Forest of the Fairies, is part of the wax museum and decorated like an enchanted forest.
So, if you’re looking for a city with rich architecture complemented by beaches and wild nightlife then Barcelona is the city for you.
