Welcome: About Me
I am a fourth year journalism major at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. I am currently striving toward gaining experience in public relations and promotions in order to gain a solid career in the field. I am looking for an opportunity to work with a company that has strong interest in enhancing their public communications through marketing, innovative promotions, and exceptional communications with their audience and employees.
As a journalism student I have been able to enhance my writing skills. However, my greatest experiences have occurred outside of the classroom. Through internships, a steady managerial position at a campus job, and involvement in non-profit organizations, I have been able to hone my skills and develop a brand with my peers and students in the field.
I worked as an intern with Comcast Spotlight in Miramar, FL for three years. While interning I had the opportunity to work in marketing, sales and finance. I created an interoffice Frequently Asked Questions listserv, in addition to a newsletter for Comcast Spotlight advertising clients. Through my internship I was able to reclaim 15 clients to the company through a three months sales reclamation initiative that I spearheaded in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
I also have had public relations and promotions experience in non-profit organizations at the University of Florida and in the Gainesville community. Through these organizations I have assisted in the organization of over 20 events and lead public relations and marketing teams in promotions. My skills include the use of Microsoft Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint. In addition, I am able to utilize Adobe products such as InDesign, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
