Tracy Elizabeth Flack

Born and raised in Miami, Fla., I now study journalism at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. I feel fortunate to have discovered my passionate for journalism and design at a young age because the time has allowed me to gain experience in all aspects of the field. I began as an anchor for my middle school’s morning news broadcast. After taking an Introduction to Journalism class in ninth grade, I moved on to serve as an editor for my high school yearbook for three years.

Although my specialty within the field has waivered, I always been passionate about the media. As a senior in the College of Journalism and Communications, I have had the opportunity to learn about all aspects of the media, including reporting, research, public relations, magazine design and now Web design. Over the last three and a half years at UF, I have filled my spare time with a wide variety of extracurricular activities. I am most passionate about my work as the Public Relations Overall Chair for Dance Marathon, the largest student-run philanthropy in the Southeastern United States. In the past 15 years, Dance Marathon has raised over $3.2 million for Children’s Miracle Network at Shands Children’s Hospital at UF. My involvement each year with Dance Marathon has led me to pursue a career in public relations for non-profits. I believe my skills and experience in deigning promotional material writing press releases and soliciting sponsorships will lend well to career that benefits those in need.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking, watching movies and relaxing by the pool. In between semesters, I also enjoy traveling with my mom. Most recently, we visited my older brother who lives in China. We also traveled to Paris and London, where I took a magazine production course at the University of Westminster. You can read more about my experiences abroad in my Travels section.

After graduation this May, I look forward to expanding my experience by moving to a new city where I can continue to exercise my passion for journalism and communications.
