Elizabeth's Travels

Maryland, My Maryland

When I signed on to intern at the Maryland Lottery, I was expecting that my public relations internship would be a typical 9-5 office job. Well, I was in for a surprise. During the summer, I traveled throughout the state in a white box van attending promotional events.

These adventures threw me out of the comfort zone of my Baltimore City office, taking me from the rural farmlands of Frederick County in the west to the beachside boardwalks of Ocean City in the east, and everywhere in between.

Some of the highlights included relaxing in the MASN skybox at Baltimore Orioles games, raging in front row seats at several concerts including Taylor Swift, Earth, Wind & Fire/Chicago and Staind, and dancing the night away at popular sports bars during the Lottery Patrol's Keno Parties.

The catch – I had to be seen in public wearing horrendous costumes. For most of the summer, I could be seen making my way through the state wearing a poodle skirt to celebrate the launch of the Lottery’s nostalgic 50’s-themed scratch-off, American Classics.
