About Patrick
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia. After graduating from Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School, I attended Saint Joseph’s University. During my four years on ‘Hawk Hill’, I wrote for the school newspaper, majored in political science and avidly cheered for the Hawks men’s basketball team.
Now, I am a second year graduate student at the University of Florida where I am pursuing a master’s degree in journalism. In my second semester at Saint Joseph’s University, I took a sports journalism class taught by ESPN National Correspondent Sal Paolantonio. It seemed like it would be an interesting class to fill out my course schedule, and I had always enjoyed sports and writing. After one class meeting, I was hooked. As I walked out of Bellarmine Hall on a cold January night, I knew my life had been changed. I had found my passion – sports journalism.
I will graduate with my master’s degree in May 2010, and I am eager to begin my professional career. I am currently a weekly contributing reporter for ESPN.com which has been the most rewarding experience of my professional career. Working for ESPN is a privilege because I have the opportunity to tell interesting stories to a large audience while working with a great editor. Having this type of career full-time is my goal after leaving Florida.
