Where Does Kat Go?
Traveling is extremely important to me. Maybe it has something to do with spending 18 years of my life in the same, small suburb, but I don't like the idea of staying in one place for too long. I want to see everywhere and everything, all four corners of the world and inbetween.
I recently made a trip to a place called Grundy county in the mountains of Tennessee. I went with my boyfriend, D.J., my good friend and old Tallahassee roommate Thomas Plevik, and my awesome roommate Joel. Joel is also a Dj by night, goes by the handle DJ Jerk, wonderful spinner. Anyway, we went to Grundy to participate in a fledgling festival called Alphapalooza. Well, about 20 people showed up, due to some bad planning and whatnot, but it turned out to be the coolest party no one went to. Everyone there was really cool. No one was in their element. Fun and music and some other things were had by all. The locals were classic.
This past Christmas I visited Washington D.C. with my father. We drove up there and had a great time doing it. I loved it, and I wish the next time I visit I'll be there on assignment, doing some cool reporting stuff. My three favorite sights were definitely the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, and the Library of Congress. How I'd love to do some research at the Library of Congress.
Pictured above is me in a bamboo forest in Maui, Hawaii. It was probably the most wonderful place I've ever been. The weather was perfect, the flora and fauna were breathtaking, and the seafood was all the best you can get at the lowest price ever. I want so badly to visit Hawaii again someday, and I advise everyone to get there, even if they have to swim.
During my senior year of highschool I made a trip with some classmates to Europe. That was the coolest trip I've ever been on. Also, I got drunk for the first time on this trip, on the first day there, in Paris, on imitation absinthe. We later visited Swizterland and Germany. Munich is great. If you're ever there, get some drinks at the Hofbrauhaus...do it.
My most recent trip was in August of this year. I went to Chicago for a week with my boyrfriend, and at the end of that week we went to Lollapalooza. We got to see so many cool bands. For example, Crystal Castles, Fleet Foxes, Depeche Mode, Andrew Bird, Tool, the Killers, Lou Reed, the Raveonettes, Boys Noize, BassNectar, Major Lazer, Crookers, Simian Mobile Disco, the Bloody Beatroots, and the list goes on from there. And it was all taking place right in the middle of the downtown Chi, one of my favorite places to be.
I have been to many other cool places in my time. I've been to Alaska, New York City, all over the coast of California, and I've visited family in the Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania so many times I can't count. But that's not really enough for me, I want to see everything and everywhere and everyone. Next stop is... anywhere really. Let's go.
