This is a picture of me from last winter in Uruguay. I was at one of my best friend's place having some drinks.
Hi, I'm Ines Mato. I'm 20 years old and I'm majoring in Journalism. I'm from Uruguay, a little country in South America.
One of the things that I enjoy the most is travelling. This summer I traveled to Paris and that was one of the best experiences in my life. Before telling you about Paris, I'm going to tell you a little about me.
My story begins like this: I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1988. I lived in Punta del Este, which is one of the most beautiful cities in Uruguay, for 17 years. Punta del Este is one of those places that not a lot of people in the world know, but it's worth visiting. I grew up going to the beach, playing outside, riding bikes, and playing hide and seek. My family also loved Punta del Este, but my father always had a dream of moving to the United States. In 2003 there was an economic crisis in Uruguay, so my father decided to move to Miami. At the beginning, my mother, brother, and I stayed at home, but three years later we moved to Miami with my father.
I cried and missed Uruguay for a long time, but after six months, things started to get better. We moved to a house, we bought a dog, and I started College. Miami Dade College wasn't the education that I was looking for, but I should recognize that it helped me a lot to improve my English. I also met a lot of people who are my friends today.
Time went fast, and soon I had to decide on the school that I wanted to transfer to. I didn't know much about universities in the United States. I thought of Boston, but the cold weather is not for me. Then, I thought of UF. I heard UF had one of the best journalism schools in America. So, I applied. After a long process of visiting the school, renting an apartment, and taking the summer off, here I am.
